South Africa’s tax and customs authority issued tariff amendments under the Customs & Excise Act, 1964, with texts to be published in the Government Gazette. The amendments take effect on September 4, 2026; the notice is dated September 3, 2026.

Schedule No. 1, Part 1: new entries under items 213.03 and 217.02 impose anti-dumping duties on motor vehicle windshields and front windshields originating in or imported from Malaysia, classified under tariff subheadings 7007.21.20 and 8708.22.10 (ITAC Report 776), applicable until May 1, 2027.

Schedule No. 1, Part 3: by substituting the text under item 260.03, certain hot-rolled steel products of Chapter 72 originating in or imported from Korea are brought under safeguard protection with an 11% safeguard duty (ITAC Memo M04/2026), applicable from May 2, 2027 to May 1, 2028.

The same memo also provides a 9% safeguard duty for certain Korean hot-rolled steel products over the respective period.

Officials said publication details will follow. Exporters involved with the above tariff codes should watch the new rates’ timing and scope, and prepare duty costs and customs documents in advance.
